This series of twelve plays from Granada Television was based on a series of Irish short stories, debuting on Wednesday 19 August 1970 with a couple of tales by Sean O’Faolain.

Other writers included Frank O’Connor and Hugh Leonard, and the stories were generally slow, subtle and soothing.

Actors who appeared in the episodes included Sinead Cusack, Ray McAnally (pictured above), Brigit Forsyth, Cyril Cusack, Ronald Lacey, Carmel McSharry, Patricia Brake, David Healy and Niall Toibin.
