Topper’s Tales was a series of ten-minute stories for children written and told by Julian Orchard and inspired by Palmer Cox’s Brownies collection published in America before World War I.

Produced for Yorkshire Television by Joy Whitby and airing on Thursdays at lunchtime, the animated drawings of the titular top-hatted and monocled hero were by Peter Parr.

Topper was joined in most of his adventures by his group of little friends and “the Old One”.
