    Premiering on 21 May 1973, mime artist and Vision On regular Ben Benison starred as the Up and Down, In and Out, Roundabout Man in this daytime children’s show from Thames Television, which was aimed at preschoolers.

    Actions spoke louder than words as the accident-prone Up and Down man fell into a series of adventures every Monday lunchtime on ITV and took a number of odd jobs, including babysitter, scarecrow, working in a supermarket, and trying his hand at being an artist.

    The series was created by Geoff Rowley and Andy Baker (based on an idea by Rex Bloomstein).

    Benison died on 4 December 2019, aged 86.
