This anthology of P G Wodehouse comedies was adapted by David Clime from the original short stories. The collection of 1920s high society farces starred the husband and wife team of John Alderton and Pauline Collins in a variety of different roles.

The stories came from all corners of the Wodehouse world but there was particular emphasis on the extended Mulliner clan, with Alderton portraying various members of the eccentric family.

Wodehouse himself introduced the earlier episodes, just prior to his death at the age of 93 on Valentine’s day 1975. Three series were made in total.

Alderton continued his foray into the world of Wodehouse by reading three of the master’s short stories in the five-part series Welcome To Wodehouse, a praiseworthy attempt by BBC1 to turn children on to the works of ‘Plum’.

The show was broadcast in January and February 1982 (Paul Eddington read the other two stories).
