Produced by the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), this daily half-hour serial dealt with such topics as adultery, divorce, and alcoholism. Unlike other soap operas, however, it conveyed a message: that all crises can be resolved by applying Christian principles.

The series was set in the (fictional) town of Kingsley, Virginia, and the principal characters were recently widowed nurse Terry Davidson (Mary Jean Feton); her daughter, Lori (Jeannette Larson and Debbie McLeod); her son Peter (Darrel Campbell); and Dr Ben Martin (Matt Williams), who married Lori.

Other key characters included lone RedIon (Edye Byrde) and her reporter son, Gene (Eddie Hailey); Gene’s wife, Carla (Kani Page and Elain Graham); businessman Charles Carpenter (Randy Kraft Jr) and his wife Helen (Suzanne Granfield); their daughter Miriam (Ginger Burgett) and her husband Paul Mason (Robert Bendall); and Dr David Phillips (Tom Urich), a reformed alcoholic, his ex-wife Kate (Dorothy Stinette) and their daughters Stacey (Karen Chapman) and Amber (Peggy Woody).

Chris Roland appeared as Russ Weaver, with Susan Scannell as Becky Hewitt, who married Russ. Michael Ryan was Russ’s father, mobster Vince Cardello, who was ultimately murdered by Ronnie Washington (Nick Benedict).

Another Life was cancelled in 1984 due to low ratings and a shortage of advertising revenues.
