137 x 30 minute episodes
Debuting in January 1982, this children’s magazine show purported to be broadcast illegally from a pirate TV station (Channel 14) based in the boiler room of the Teddington Studios at Thames Television.
Jim Sweeney, Steve Steen and Paul Henley presented stories and news items from around the world which were of interest to kids, occasionally interviewing guests, including – in December 1982 – Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
The boys had to sneak into the studios each week, employing all manner of tricks and subterfuge to get past Harry the security guard (Harry Fielder, pictured).
Subsequent additional presenters included Anneka Rice, Sandra James-Young and Paul Shearer.
In 1984, the team were evicted from the boiler room and found a new home in the studio’s paint store, where they had to do constant battle with the storeroom foreman, Arnold Buggins.
The final episode aired in April 1985.
