30 x 60 minute episodes
This detective drama series was based around two mismatched detectives: Lieutenant James Dempsey (Michael Brandon) was a tough New York cop who found himself in a lot of trouble when he killed his partner during a corruption investigation in his own Department.
Dempsey was seconded to an elite undercover section of New Scotland Yard known as SI-10 for his own protection while the heat died down within the NYPD.
In London, Dempsey was partnered with a beautiful female – Detective Sergeant Harriet Makepeace, an icy English aristocrat (played by South African actress Glynis Barber) who preferred to be known as “Harry”.
Working under the extremely watchful eye of Chief Superintendent Gordon Spikings (Ray Smith), Dempsey and Makepeace never ever agreed with each other’s methods but they still managed to consistently get the bad guys.
The onscreen chemistry between Dempsey and Makepeace blossomed into a true-life romance and co-stars Michael Brandon and Glynis Barber married in real-life on 18 November 1989.
