We’ve got a brand new story about the castaways
We left our tiny island after years and months and days
We built a little spaceship, it’s crude but it could fly
We left our home and lost our way, between the stars and sky
We went from an island to a star, lost on Gilligan’s Planet.
In a last-ditch attempt to escape from the island on which they have been shipwrecked for over 15 years, the Professor constructs a rocket ship that takes himself and the six other castaways (the Skipper, Gilligan, Ginger Grant, Mary Ann Summers, and Thurston and Lovey Howell) for an unexpected trip into the far regions of outer space.
During the flight, the solar panels on the rocket become damaged, forcing the ship to crash-land on an unknown planet which becomes their new home. This time, the castaways were also joined by Gilligan’s sidekick, Bumper, a reptilian alien that he kept as a pet.
They begin a whole new life on a whole new world while still trying to repair the now space-worthy SS Minnow and return home from their infinite three-hour tour.
All of the original cast members of Gilligan’s Island (1964) returned to provide the voices for their characters save for Tina Louise, whose character Ginger Grant – who was drawn blonde in the cartoon – was instead voiced by Dawn Wells in addition to Wells’ own character Mary Ann Summers.
The show recycled old Gilligan plots, only with an alien theme.
