Based on the Walt Disney films The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975) and The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again (1979) this comedy Western revolved around the lives of good-natured gambler Russell Donovan (Barry Van Dyke), the two precocious young children he won in a card game – Celia (Bridgette Anderson) and Clovis (Keith Mitchell and Adam Rich) – and the townsfolk of the small California town of Quake City in 1869.
Homer McCoy (Henry Jones) was Quake City’s barber, sheriff, and justice of the peace and Homer’s ex-wife Nettie (Janis Paige) ran the only hotel in town.
Colonel Mound (Pat McCormick) was the owner of the local stagecoach line, and Theodore (Tim Thomerson) and Amos (Geoffrey Lewis) were two bumbling would-be desperadoes, vainly attempting to build reputations as outlaws.
