15 x 30 minute episodes
Nora Powers (Mollie Sugden), the high-powered head of personnel at the prestigious Ashvale Advertising agency, finds her professional and personal lives colliding when her recently-retired husband, George (Sugden’s real-life husband William Moore) takes a job as chief commissionaire (doorman) for her company.
Nora’s Personal Assistant is shy spinster Miss Bamber (Deddie Davies), who is nicknamed ‘Bambi’ by Nora and ‘Dumbo’ by George.
The rest of the staff include the fiery Tracey (the gorgeous Carol Hawkins), dizzy debutante Henrietta (Jane Ashton), dippy Samantha (Roberta Tovey) and Anita ( Natasha Gray ), all of whom work in the typing pool. Also present is the loud and bubbly tea-lady Pearl (the late Isabelle Lucas).
Nora reports to the senile Mr Mundy (John Horsley).
The Yorkshire Television series was written by Pam Valentine and Michael Ashton, the team behind That’s My Boy (1981 – 1986).
