This Australian drama series from ABC TV debuted on Saturday 22 July 1989, and revolved around the private and professional lives of a group of barristers from varied backgrounds.

Peter Curtin played conservative barrister Dermott O’Brien, Geneviève Picot was his embittered feminist colleague Penelope Phillips, and Scott Burgess played young Harley Davidson-riding barrister Chris Parvo, the champion of the underdog.

Lewis Flander played the smooth but two-faced head of chambers, Robbie Renard QC, in a style reminiscent of his acclaimed Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, and Taya Straton was Susan-Elizabeth Wallberg, the ambitious daughter of a judge who trod on toes wherever she went.  Kirsty Child was prissy secretary, Beverly Lamb.

Also seen in guest roles were Lynda Stoner, Gia Carides, Rod Mullinar and Anne Phelan.
