Jennifer Farrell (Ann Jillian) was a famous movie star with the body of Marilyn Monroe and the attitude of Mae West. She died about six years ago but her ghost refuses to move out of her Beverly Hills house.
She loves the old haunt – especially when the celebrity tour bus comes by, which it does several times a day, and the driver says, “when her star vanished, the heavens glowed a little less brightly”.
Now the wealthy Elliot family moves in from New York: Susan (Georgia Engel), George (Brandon Maggart) and their two children, 14-year-old Joey (John P. Navin Jr) and 6-year-old Marilyn (Mya Stark).
Jennifer’s ghost is “assigned” to Joey, who, most of the time, is the only one who can see her.
She helps him get through puberty while Joey’s friends, especially Marc (Glenn Scarpelli), wonder why he talks to thin air a lot of the time.
Joey’s father, meanwhile, is unimpressed with living in Jennifer Farrell’s house.
