While escaping from the police, Draxon Drear (voiced by Booker Bradshaw), an evil criminal from the year 2010, crashes his spaceship into the ocean. A gas escapes and places him a state of suspended animation.
One thousand years later, Draxon is found and revived. While learning about the future world, Draxon steals a time machine device and returns to the past to change the course of history.
When it is learned that Draxon has returned to 1986 to stop Beth Jaren, a 20th-century scientist, from developing time travel technology, 13-year-old cadet Jamie Jaren (Noelle Harling) – a member of the Lazer Tag Academy (the future government who rule with justice and peace) and a descendant of Beth – is sent back in time to stop Draxon.
Jamie meets her ancestors, children Tom (Billy Jayne), Nicky (R.J. Williams) and Beth (Christina MacGregor) Jaren, who join Jamie in her mission.
Living with the family, Jamie hides her true identity from Mr and Mrs Jaren (Frank Welker and Tress MacNeille), posing as a foreign exchange student.
Meanwhile, she is watched in secret by the Jaren’s neighbour, young Charlie Ferguson (Pat Fraley), who suspects that Jamie is an alien from another world.
Stories relate Jamie’s efforts to stop Draxon before he changes the course of history.
