Four music-loving teens from Wrights High School – Adam, Darcie, Christopher and Mark – worked at a local music store (called “The Music Shoppe”) while following their dreams of playing in a Rock ‘n Roll band.
Gary Crosby (son of Bing Crosby) starred (as himself) as the owner of the titular music shop.
Stephen Schwartz appeared as Adam (who played the guitar), future Fame star Nia Peeples as keyboard player Darcie, Benny Medina as bass player Christopher, and David Jackson as Mark, the drummer. All four kids sang.
Tommy Koenig costarred as Champ, and veteran character actor Jesse White played Spence, a cigar-chomping booking agent.
The Music Shoppe came and went without fanfare. 13 episodes were produced though the series did not air on US network television, and only a handful of episodes were later released on video.
Benny Medina went on to become a successful record executive and television producer (The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air), and managed some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey.
