1 9 8 6 (Australia)
30 minute episodes
Debuting in January 1986, this kid’s afternoon magazine-style TV series was produced by Australia’s Channel Ten.
Presented by Cameron Daddo, Gwen Soares and Simon Watt – all relatively inexperienced in television (and especially in children’s television) – the series had an experienced behind-camera team of Ian Fairweather (executive producer), Ann North (producer) and Elizabeth Mansutti (writer).
On-screen storytellers were featured (in the style of the long-running British TV series Jackanory), and episodes were broadcast “as close to live as possible” and based mostly on a set designed by Deane Taylor.
Deemed too expensive to produce for a children’s show, the series ended on 12 September 1986.
