47 x 30 minute episodes
While exploring the treasures of their attic, young Bonnie Wagner (voiced initially by Barbara Redpath and then by Valri Bromfield) and her young brother Billy (voiced by Noam Zylberman) discover an old box of toys and a group of friendly creatures that inhabit it called Popples.
Episodes related the misadventures that occurred as Bonnie and Billy struggled to keep the existence of the very mischievous Popples – who could curl into a fuzzy ball and whose names all began with the letter P – a secret.
In the second series, Mike (voiced by Valri Bromfield) and his sister Penny (Jeannie Elias) – who have their own Popples – move into the house next door.
The animated series was based on a toy line manufactured by American Greetings. The toys were revived in the 2000s by Playmates Toys, and a new Popples series debuted on Netflix in 2015.
A live-action direct-to-video Popples movie – featuring Brady Bluhm as Billy and Kamie Harper as Bonnie – was also produced in 1986.
