A Saturday morning cartoon series from Hanna-Barbera whose main characters, the wrinkled anthropomorphic Pound Puppies, were inspired by a popular line of stuffed toys.
Here, the Pound Puppies – hip Cooler (Dan Gilvezan), worrywart Howler (Robert Morse), fibbing Whopper (B.J. Ward), Catgut (Frank Welker), eager Bright Eyes (Nancy Cartwright), and Southern Belle Nose Marie (Ruth Buzzi) – lived at the pound (natch!) but could get out at night through a secret tunnel.
Assisted by their 11-year-old human friend Holly (Ami Foster), they tried to outwit Holly’s evil guardian, Katrina Stoneheart (Pat Carroll), and her spoiled daughter, Brattina (Adrienne Alexander).
During the second season, the series was retitled All New Pound Puppies.
