This children’s television series produced by Yorkshire Television was based on a series of books by British writer Jean Kenward.
A small stuffed doll named Ragdolly Anna lived on the third floor of a block of flats with the little dressmaker (Pat Coombs) and her wise white cat.
Anna would spring into life when nobody was watching and go on many wild and fantastic adventures – such as going to the fair, visiting the allotment, doing a spot of gardening or inviting a clockwork elephant round for tea.
Innovative use of the burgeoning chromakey process allowed an actress (Michele Davidson originally and then Caroline Berry) to be shrunk in a Ragdolly Anna costume and superimposed over the action.
The outdoor locations used for the series were all in Leeds. The tenement flats where Ragdolly Anna lived with the dressmaker were on Woolman Street.
