Based on the smash 1984 movie Ghostbustersstarring Bill Murray, this ABC cartoon featured a quartet of ghoul-fighting guys (Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, and Winston Zeddmore) who pursued their vocation in janitorial outfits replete with guns ready to stun the supernatural beings into oblivion.
Slimer was their pet blob apparition with a ravenous and mischievous streak, and Janine was their diligent secretary.
An immediate success, the series also went into daily syndication in 1987.
In September 1988, the show was renamed Slimer! and the Real Ghostbusters and expanded to an hour, with Slimer having his own segments on quests for food and fun. The changes were not well-received and the show never recovered and was cancelled soon after.
