Crusty retired headmaster Oliver Purcell (Richard Vernon) was not amused to hear that legendary heavy metal star Nigel Cochrane (Nigel Planer) had decided to give up touring and was intending to move into his staid, peaceful Surrey village.
He was even more disturbed when his own daughter, Belinda (Liza Goddard), began to give Nigel piano lessons. Despite many years on the road as bass player for the band band ‘Graf Spee’, Nigel could not read or write music.
Belinda, usually the dutiful, demure daughter, hardly seemed the type to turn the head of a rock legend, but turn it she did and an unlikely romance ensued.
Belinda also supported Nigel by writing songs with his pal Marvin (Emlyn Price). Eventually, she cut her own album and Dad – despite his bluster – was really quite pleased.
Neil, meanwhile, was forced to rejoin Graf Spee for a tour to pay off his tax bill.
