This short-lived NBC summer sitcom revolved around burly but warm-hearted 42-year-old Marine drill instructor, Sergeant Nick Chase (Burt Young), who left the Corps after 20 years of service and enrolled in college at Saginaw University, New Jersey.
His roommate was the youngest student on campus, 14-year-old fish-obsessed genius Matthew Wiggins (Corey Haim).
Episodes observed their attempts to learn from each other as they dealt with the challenges of life as college freshmen. Refreshingly, the scriptwriters did not milk the generation gap for cliched gags but allowed the characters to get to know each other and slowly develop an attachment to each other. Their favourite eatery was Pizza, Pizza, Pizza.
A roving group of singing freshmen appeared in every episode.
The series was cancelled after only eight episodes.
