20 x 60 minute episodes
Captain Frank Murphy (Robert The Untouchables Stack) is in charge of a special police division – Strike Force – that only handles the most difficult cases of the Los Angeles police department. Located in room 414, the special unit was designed to battle the violent crimes considered too dangerous for ordinary police officers to handle.
He has assembled a diverse team to take on the craftiest criminals, including Sgt Rosie Johnson, played by Trisha Noble (aka former Australian pop singer Patsy Ann Noble), Lieutenant Charlie Gunzer (Richard Romanus), Detective Paul Strobber (Dorian Harewood) – the team’s only black member – and Detective Mark Osborne (Michael Goodwin).
Their superior is Herbert Klein (Herb Edelman), the deputy police commissioner. When the police commissioner wants Strike Force, they’re on it: “Do it, Frank, just do it.”
The team goes undercover when necessary and they kill when they have to – “This is what we do.”
Frank is divorced after being married for eight years to “a tyrant named Donna” (although in later episodes she was called Eve. )
This Aaron Spelling production was notable for its hard-edged violence and mean spirit, making it a throwback to 70s shows like S.W.A.T and The Rookies.
