Jane and Barney travelled all over Northern Ireland (and occasionally in the Republic), visiting a series of unique locations, including a trip to Lough Neagh to look at life for the local fishermen (and the accompanying population of two million eels), a journey back through time at the Ulster American Folk Park in County Tyrone, and a visit to Belfast to see how a newspaper is put together.
Swings and Roundabouts was produced by Ulster TV and mostly aired as a regional opt-out from the rest of the ITV Schools schedule.
On the whole, it was only seen by children in Northern Ireland (though it occasionally made its way into the fully networked schedule due to scheduling conflicts).
