Debuting on Wednesday 7 September 1988, this ITV kid’s series starred Sandi Toksvig (late of No. 73) in her own show.

The information-based magazine programme was aimed at 10 to 14-year-olds and Sandi was accompanied in her off-beat look at the world by Paddy Ward, Vincent Brimble, Deddie Davies, Janet Spencer-Turner, Christopher Whittingham, and Joolz Denby who played an assortment of characters from spontaneously combusting tea ladies to a spoof Fat man and Robin.

Toksvig was produced in record time. Four months after Sandi pitched the idea to TVS Controller of Children’s Programmes Nigel Pickard, the first seven shows had been recorded. Sandi and co-writer Elly Brewer had to write two scripts a week to produce the material in time for recording.
