Who could have ever guessed that a sitcom seen through the eyes of the family dog would fail?!
The Channel Nine series debuted on 22 February 1994 and starred Bob, a fluffy white dog of indeterminate pedigree who escaped from a dog pound and worked his way into the suburban Melbourne home of the Morrisons: plumber dad Steve (Andy Anderson); modern mum Lizzy (Nikki Coghill); troubled teenage daughter Maxine (Elissa Elliot) and the inevitable cute kid, Ben (Chris Lyons).
Steve’s apprentice, Jake (Matt Day) rounded out the regular cast.
Much of the show was shot from the dog’s point of view as Bob narrated the episodes, speaking his thoughts out loud (in an annoying high-pitched squeaky voice provided by Stig Wemyss).
Right from the start, the series performed badly in its timeslot against Blue Heelers, Seinfeld and Roseanne and was not renewed at the end of the year.
