Based on the Nintendo video game, this formula NBC cartoon series was set in Videoland, where the characters that appeared in the various games were real.
Princess Lana (Venus Terzo) ruled Videoland, but the evil Mother Brain (voiced by soul legend Levi Stubbs) – an evil brain in a bottle – sought to conquer it with her accomplices, King Hippo (Harry Chalk); the Eggplant Wizard (Michael Donovan); Count Dracula (Alessandro Juliani), and Dr Wily (Ian Corlett).
Princess Lana needed help to defeat Mother Brain, so she recruited Kevin Keene (voiced by Matt Hill), a California teenager who was a whiz at playing Nintendo video games.
Kevin and his dog, Duke, were transported to Videoland through the Ultimate Warp Zone, where Kevin became Captain N, the Game Master.
Stories followed Kevin as he struggled to defeat Mother Brain and save Videoland from her rule.
Kevin was assisted by Simon Belmont (Andrew Kavadas), a vampire hunter from Castlevania; Mega Man (Doug Parker); Kid Icarus (Alessandro Juliani), and Gameboy (Frank Welker).
