Comedian Sean Hughes was plucked from obscurity and trapped in a TV reconstruction of his Muswell Hill flat, where his everyday bumblings were exposed to the gaze of a studio audience.
By the second series, he had moved to a house in Chelsea which was so close to the Stamford Bridge football ground he was often kicking back balls.
Guests on the show included Windsor Davies, Anita Dobson, Steve Coogan, Vinnie Jones, The Cure, Pulp, The Bay City Rollers (Les McKeown’s incarnation thereof), Michael Sheen and Bea Arthur (star of US sitcoms Maude and The Golden Girls).
The innovative Channel 4 show lasted two seasons.
