This ABC comedy featured the relationship between three sisters: happily married Nora (Marsha Mason), cynical, neurotic real estate agent Audie (Margaret Colin), who was on the brink of financial disaster, and miserably single caterer Lily (Jami Gertz), the youngest sister.
Audrey Elizabeth Wyler – a recovering alcoholic – got her nickname “Audie” from Lily (as a baby, she couldn’t say “Audrey”).
Nora was married to Howard “Howie” Ruscio, an eighth-grade school teacher in Manhattan.
She was originally a bookkeeper for the Morris and Morris Business Management firm, although she quit in the second episode to begin her own firm – Ruscio Management.
The sisters’ favourite watering hole was a bar on 4th Street.
A spinoff called Related by Birth was planned, featuring Audie and Lily. A pilot was made in 1994 but no series eventuated.
