Chris Evans bounced back on to the small screen, fresh from Radio 1 breakfast show success, with this youth-oriented Friday teatime show which featured pop groups, showbiz gossip and daft stunts and games.
The show was broadcast from the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, with a set that conveyed the impression of a nightclub below and the manager’s office above, from where Evans anchored the show.
Producer Will Macdonald joined Evans to present a series of intriguing pub tricks involving matches, glasses etc.
Star guests dropped by for a chat, ugly people paraded their best features, and there were plenty of other similarly wacky competitions.
The programme was repeated at around 11 pm, the same evening.
By the time of the final series, in autumn 2000, Chris Evans had left the show and the programme was fronted by different celebrity guests each week, ending up with Sir Elton John.
