Maura Monti stars as Gloria, a renowned and affluent luchadora enmasculado (female masked wrestler) recruited by the police to investigate a series of murdered wrestlers found floating off the coast of Acapulco.
While the victims appear to have drowned, each case reveals that the contents of their pineal gland has been removed.
Partnering with FBI agent Mario Robles (Héctor Godoy), Gloria traces the clues to the eccentric neurosurgeon Dr Eric Williams (Roberto Cañedo).
Operating from his floating laboratory, the Reptilicus, Williams is attempting to create gilled humans by injecting small fish with glandular extracts.
Exposure to radiation causes the resulting mutants to grow to the size of the original donor. He prefers using wrestlers as donors, hoping his mutants will be vigorous.
Williams’ goal is to build an army of Gill Men to dominate the world’s oceans, but his experiments cost him too many victims.
Gloria and Mario begin surveilling the local wrestling gym, aiming to catch the next potential victim. Gloria, being a skilled wrestler herself, easily infiltrates the scene.
Her costume is a direct imitation of Adam West’s outfit from the Batman television series, distinguished only by her periwinkle tights.
Apart from the cape and cowl, Batwoman essentially roams the city in a stylish, well-filled bikini.
Once Williams is identified as the villain, Batwoman boards his boat. She nearly catches him, but Williams, now aware of her presence, dispatches his henchmen to capture her. Failing that, he attaches an electronic device to her cape that targets her for the Gill Man’s hunt.
In a scene reminiscent of his role in Doctor of Doom (1963) – another film by René Cardona blending lady wrestlers and monsters – she confronts Williams and throws acid into his face.
