This risible spoof of the Bulldog Drummond stories stars Alan Shearman, Ron House and Diz White, members of the Anglo-American stage company Low Moan Spectacular that also wrote the original stage play on which their movie script is based.
Shearman plays the fearless First World War hero Captain Hugh “Bullshot” Crummond with all the subtlety of a salesman on commission.
Finding peacetime dull, Crummond becomes eager to resume hostilities with his arch-enemy Count Otto von Bruno (Ron House), and when an inventor is kidnapped, “Bullshot” confronts the evil German once more.
But he has left himself with little option as every pun and sight gag in this atrocious tale demands to be rammed home with steam-hammer finesse.
Billy Connolly, Mel Smith and Nicholas Lyndhurst are among the celebrities whose cameos can’t help the cause.
