After learning that her husband, Phillip (Dermot Walsh), has been killed in a plane crash in Eastern Europe, Joan Scott (Australian actress Betty McDowall) is disturbed to read a mysterious ‘In Memoriam’ notice inserted in a newspaper under the signature of “Diana”.
Her journalist friend Pam (Clare Owen) tries to find out who inserted the notice, but her inquiries lead only to a wild goose chase.
Joan and Pam are approached by journalist Bill Vernon (Vincent Ball, also an Australian), who says he knew Phillip and wants permission to do a series of articles about him.
After raids on their apartments, a visit to a high-ranking Embassy official, and a summons before security chief Colonel Justin (Geoffrey Toone), Joan, Bill, and Pam find themselves embroiled in a case of espionage.
This unassuming but fast-paced low-budget spy thriller is sufficiently intriguing to make its unconvincing and melodramatic finale seem comparatively unimportant.
