When American billionaire Anthony Falcon (Ralph Chesse) dies, his poor Italian mechanic nephew Guido Falcone (Terence Hill) inherits everything, provided he can travel to San Francisco to claim his inheritance before the deadline, but corporate lawyer-executor John Cutler (Jackie Gleason) tries to steal the inheritance.
Cutler has also sent Rosie Jones (Valerie Perrine) to try to coerce Guido to sign a paper relinquishing all claims to the estate. Instead, she falls for him.
The script is full of quirky little touches that make the film as above average of its kind. “Wait,” pleads a rapist cornered by Guido, “perverts are people too.”
