This made-for-television movie from London Weekend Television featured small-time private eye and failed family man Eddie Palmer (Ray Winstone), who ran the grandly-titled detective agency, Global International Private Investigation and Security Agency in Brighton.
The decidedly inexperienced Eddie employed a bizarre assortment of oddball would-be agents, all supported by their perky office secretary, Monica (Dora Bryan).
Eddie, his sardonic sidekick Charlie Higgins (Gerard Horan) and their employees solved the few cases that came their way more by good luck than by skill or good management.
Faced with a tricky case of child abduction, Eddie resorted to helping out the mother by snatching her child back. Surprising developments followed.
Written by Tony Hoare, Palmer aired on ITV on Saturday 5 January 1991.
