This crime melodrama from British Lion is set in the heart of London and concerns American-born industrialist James Kennedy (Cameron Mitchell), who decides to fight the kidnappers of his young son Jimmy (Denis Gilmore) by adopting big business methods and ignoring Scotland Yard’s Inspector Hazelrigg (Marius Goring).
The gang, led by Feist (Harry H. Corbett), demands £10,000 ransom for the boy’s return, but the wily Kennedy deposits £20,000. Just as Kennedy expects, the gang quarrel over the loot and leaves clues.
Meanwhile, Hazelrigg and his men quietly move in, and eventually, Feist’s Hampstead hideaway is discovered.
Kennedy visits Feist alone, carrying more money, and beats Feist to the draw – with a flamethrower.
The police then pounce, the gang is busted, and Kennedy and Jimmy are reunited.
Harry H. Corbett makes a sinister Feist and young Denis Gilmore is natural as Jimmy. The supporting characters are sharply drawn.
