Born in Atlanta, Arthur Conley was discovered by Otis Redding in 1965 when singing with Arthur and The Corvets.
Otis produced many of Conley’s records for Stax-Volt including his two 1967 hits, Sweet Soul Music and Shake, Rattle and Roll.
Arthur Conley died from intestinal cancer on 17 November 2003 in the town of Ruurlo in the Netherlands, where he ran an independent record label. He was 57.
