Fronted by singer and guitarist Mick Walker, this Wolverhampton based mod revival four-piece quickly built up a strong local following.
The band signed to Graduate Records in 1979, who released the band’s debut single, Opening Up b/w Billy, which reached #3 in the UK indie charts as the band embarked on a national tour to promote the release.
A move to the Vertigo label produced the second single, Angry Voices b/w Summer Nights in 1980. The single sold over 20,000 copies and spawned another national tour to promote it.
The constant touring placed a strain on the young band and by 1981 The Circles had called it a day. The group reformed for some anniversary gigs in 1999.
