Generally lumped in with the late 70s Ska Revival/Mod Revival due to their suits and their atypical almost-hit Elvis Should Play Ska, this Bath-based five-piece deserved better.
Sharing roots with The Police and The Jam, they were really New Wave guitar-poppers – tight, jerky and heavily stylised but with some very effective hooks.
Some of the teen-tantrum lyrics would no doubt bring a rosy glow of embarrassment to Orzabal’s cheeks these days, but the way toward Tears For Fears is obvious in others.
