Led by singer-songwriter Jill Kossoris, this Milwaukee power pop band came together from the ashes of a number of other local bands, including Death (drummer Jim Richardson), In A Hot Coma (Kossoris and bassist Scott Krueger), and Blackholes (guitarist Jim Eannelli).
They released their debut single, “Teen Line,“in 1980 (on their own Fliptop label), with the catchy hooks and impeccable harmonies earning the endorsement of ex-Raspberries frontman Eric Carmen, who even expressed interest in producing the band’s planned debut album.
Breck Burns (pictured) replaced guitarist Jim Eannelli, and by 1982, The Shivvers had relocated to Boston. Health issues caused the group to disband shortly after their move.
Krueger, Richardson and Burns reunited in 1989 to record one more single, Remember Tonight.
Burns was then diagnosed with leukaemia, and the disease claimed his life in November 1993.
Jill Kossoris relocated to Nashville, where she worked as a songwriter and released a solo album (Invisible) in 2003.
