This children’s variety show hosted by Johnny Olson and Ham Fisher was an Opportunity Knocks style showcase for talented youngsters.

The most important feature of the DuMont series was the segment ‘Kid of the Week’ in which the National Junior Chamber of Commerce honoured children who had demonstrated great courage and determination.  The recipient was flown to the show and presented with his or her award on the air.

Many talented children performed on the show including George Segal, Bobby Darin, Marvin Hamlisch and Leslie Uggams, all of whom grew up to be stars of the entertainment world.

Guest celebrities presented the awards on behalf of the show’s sponsor, St Louis International Shoe Company.

Co-host Ham Fisher was the creator of Joe Palooka, the famous comic strip and comic book character.
