Loud, lisping Daffy Duck, the perpetual second banana in the long-running Bugs Bunny Show, finally got a chance to star in his own show in 1978 when NBC’s fall schedule went south in the ratings.
Besides Bugs, the other character seen most often with Daffy in these theatrical repeats of the 1950s and 1960s was Porky Pig as his simple-minded unintentional stooge.
NBC cannily ran this show immediately following The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show on CBS for most of 1978 – 1981. Each episode contained four cartoons.
In the fall of 1981, the show was moved and retitled The Daffy/Speedy Show to allow for the addition of Speedy Gonzales cartoons.
