This hour-long dramatic series revolved around idealistic young Congressman Thomas Bell (William Katt) – a California surfer – who won a special election to fill the seat vacated by his ailing father, Pat (Dick O’Neill).
Thomas quickly became disillusioned as he learned that in Washington, he had to sacrifice much of his idealism to get anything done. Yet he still managed to tackle toxic waste, corrupt union officials, child abusers and Latin American drug barons.
Thomas’s young aides were Susan Pengilly (Jordan Baker), Link Winslow (Tony Edwards), and Mickey Stewart (Robby Weaver).
The series was a Stephen J. Cannell Production.
