This very short-lived sitcom from Fox had newly-divorced Margot Hines (Karyn Parsons) moving in with her childhood best friend, George (short for Georgette) Sanders (Lori Petty), an eccentric artist who worked as a Hooters waitress and was determined to live life to the fullest.
Margot – a career-challenged mental lightweight with a pathetic lack of self-esteem – found George’s spirit contagious and joined in her adventures.
Other characters included sharp-witted Hal Gardner (Sullivan Walker), the gruff proprietor of George’s favourite hangout, and flamboyant gay bartender Nelson ‘Margarita’ Marquez (John Ortiz).
Wealthy suburbanite-turned-urban musician and space cadet Hamilton Ford Foster (Fab Filippo) was George and Margot’s neighbour. Across the hall was a self-absorbed self-styled hunk named Lance (Khalil Kain).
Ann Hines-Davis-Wilson-Jefferson-Ali (Concetta Tomei) was Margot’s oft-married and meddling mother, who firmly believed that George had been and would always be a bad influence on her daughter.
Approached as an American spin on the British hit comedy Absolutely Fabulous, the show revelled in its alcohol-soaked irreverence.
Sadly, this celebration of socially unacceptable excesses lacked the somewhat redeeming trait of being funny, and new Fox programming chief Peter Roth quickly cancelled the series on his first official day in the job.
