Jamaican singer Millie Small has died at the age of 72 after suffering a stroke.
The star was most famous for her hit single My Boy Lollipop – a song originally recorded by New York singer Barbie Gaye in 1956 – which reached #2 in both the US and the UK in 1964.
Small’s sweet, charming and high-pitched vocal, combined with the novelty of the unfamiliar new style, made My Boy Lollipop a huge hit. It remains one of the biggest-selling ska songs of all time, with more than seven million sales.
