    3000 Miles to Graceland (2001)

Ex-con Michael Zane (Kurt Russell) teams up with his volatile former cellmate, Thomas J. Murphy (Kevin Costner), to carry out a $3.2 million robbery at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

The heist is planned to coincide with International Elvis Week, and Michael, Murphy, and three other exuberant criminals – Hanson (Christian Slater), Gus (David Arquette), and Franklin (Bokeem Woodbine) – dress up in flashy rhinestone jumpsuits, complete with sideburns and guitar cases packed with automatic weapons.

The robbery rapidly descends into a chaotic shootout, leaving numerous security guards, police officers, and bystanders dead. Franklin is killed during the escape, but the remaining four manage to flee via a rooftop helicopter.

At a seedy desert motel hideout, arguments spark over how to split Franklin’s share of the money.

Murphy – a sociopathic criminal who secretly believes he is the illegitimate son of Elvis Presley – decides he wants all the loot for himself and ruthlessly guns down Hanson and Gus.

Murphy also shoots Michael and leaves him for dead, driving off with the cash. But Michael survives the attack because he was wearing a bulletproof vest.

Michael unearths the stolen money – which he had secretly hidden prior to the shootout – and attempts to flee, hitching a ride with Cybil Waingrow (Courteney Cox) – a grifting single mother with whom he had a brief romantic fling – and her kleptomaniac young son, Jesse (David Kaye).

When Cybil discovers the stolen millions hidden in Michael’s bag, she steals the money herself and heads to a money launderer in Idaho.

Meanwhile, realising Michael is still alive and has the cash, Murphy tracks her down.

He takes Cybil hostage and waits for Michael to come to her rescue.

Pursued by relentless Federal Marshals (Kevin Pollak and Thomas Haden Church), the paths of all the surviving characters collide at a warehouse in the Pacific Northwest.

Murphy brings in heavily armed associates, Jack (Howie Long) and Hamilton (Ice-T), to help him hold his ground.

A massive, explosive SWAT team shootout erupts, but Murphy refuses to surrender and is killed in his final stand against the authorities.

Michael – once again surviving thanks to a bulletproof vest – evades the police, rescues Cybil and Jesse, and escapes with the stolen money on a boat toward a new life.
