Convicted killer Roger Sands (Frank Ashmore) studies the paranormal while he is incarcerated in the California State Hospital for the Criminally Insane, gains supernatural powers and learns how to make himself invisible. Naturally, he then escapes from prison to stalk and kill the five women who testified against him at his trial.
Lt. Charles Barrett (Robert Foxworth) leads the investigation to try and stop and catch him.
Clearly a low-budget production, the all-star cast includes Elke Sommer as a sexy former “Miss Galaxy” who the cops try to protect while she lounges around her mansion in skimpy bikinis; Sue (Lolita) Lyon – in a five-minute appearance without uttering a word of dialogue – as an early victim; and Stefanie (Hart to Hart) Powers, as Foxworth’s sexy bimbo wife, Candy.
Nobody seems astonished that they’re dealing with an invisible maniac, even when they witness a woman – surrounded by an army of police officers – getting strangled by invisible hands.
Some will probably tune in for Powers’ “nude scene” – and if you don’t blink, you might get to see the top part of her bare butt.
Released in some markets (in a shortened version) as Invisible Strangler – which is probably more fitting than The Astral Factor.
