This 1965 addition to the beach movie franchise from American International Pictures (AIP) has singing star Sugar Kane (Linda Evans) being kidnapped.
When Frankie (Frankie Avalon) sets out to rescue her, he provokes the jealousy of Dee Dee (Annette Funicello). Meanwhile, Bonehead (Jody McCrea) falls in love with a mermaid named Lorelei (future Lost in Space star Marta Kristen).
Additional complications arise when Eric Von Zipper (Harvey Lembeck) and his rats and mice turn up.
Paul Lynde is excellent as Sugar Kane’s pushy press agent, Bullets.
Timothy Carey, as South Dakota Slim, makes a marvellous villain, punctuating every sentence he utters with the word “boobie”. Buster Keaton pays the rent with a walk-on cameo.
