After continually missing his own wedding, Professor Philip Brainard (Robin Williams) is given one last chance by his fiancée, Sarah (Marcia Gay Harden).
Yet again he blows it but, this time, he has a good excuse: he’s been busy inventing ‘Flubber’, a rubber-like substance that appears to generate its own energy.
In fact, it gives inanimate objects a life of their own, resulting in Home Alone-style attacks on baddies by everything from toy robots to bowling balls.
Continuing Hollywood’s obsession with souping-up the hit comedies of the past with sophisticated special effects, this is a smart update of 1961’s The Absent Minded Professor.
