A distraught Marge Farrell (Gloria Talbott) is growing increasingly alarmed over the changes in her new husband Bill (Tom Tryon), who’s been acting strangely ever since their wedding night.
And for good reason: Bill – and most of the other men in the small town of Norrisville – have been taken over by sinister aliens who have arrived on planet Earth to marry human women with the hope of reviving their dying race.
Marge has stumbled onto their terrifying plan, and must now convince someone – anyone – to believe her before the aliens completely inhabit the bodies of the entire male population.
She attempts to place a call to Washington but is told by the operator that all lines to the city are busy; she tries to send a telegram to the FBI and sees the clerk tear the message to shreds as she leaves; she attempts to drive away from the town and is stopped by a police roadblock. Key people have been taken over and the town is virtually sealed up.
In desperation she turns to Dr Wayne (Ken Lynch) for help, hoping he has not been taken over. Her gamble pays off and the doctor recruits men who have recently become fathers (knowing they will be human) to attack the nearby alien ship.
Finally, trained German Shepherds are set loose on the aliens with devastating results.
