La Grande Bouffe (The Big Feast) (1972)

Four highly educated, world-weary rich white men – Ugo (Ugo Tognazzi), a chef and restaurant owner; Alitalia pilot and international libertine Marcello (Marcello Mastroianni); refined Michel (Michel Piccoli), a repressed gay television producer and hygiene fetishist; and sheltered Philippe (Philippe Noiret), a venerable magistrate – gather for a weekend of debauchery at Philippe’s secluded Parisian villa.

Soon, truckloads of the finest meat and wine arrive, and the four companions prepare for a wild Romanesque banquet.

Three elegant prostitutes join the eclectic quartet of hungry epicures, and voracious appetite and uninhibited desire set the stage for a magnificent Bacchanalian feast. Along for the ride is Andrea (Andréa Ferréol), a plump, buxom school teacher who can eat and fornicate with the best of them.

The extravagant hedonists are bent on carrying out their morbid secret suicide pact – to eat themselves to death – to the letter, and nothing can stop them.

They don’t do much more than that. But before the last of the corpses is sitting as a toad-like monument to indigestion, the audience has been subjected to disgusting internal rumblings, external bodily explosions and several offerings of soft-core pornography.
